Muay Thai (Thai boxing) originated in Thailand and can be traced back to the middle of the 18th century. Muay Thai is referred to as the "Art of Eight Limbs" or the "Science of Eight Limbs," because the use of punches, kicks, elbows, and knee strikes; thus using eight "points of contact," as opposed to "two points"  (Boxing) or “four points” (Kick boxing). Muay Thai is a stand-up striking art that blends with various clinching techniques.
